Whether buying or selling a home the importance of having a licensed real estate agent to rely on can make the difference between how quickly and efficiently a house is moved on the open market. Because real estate professionals are paid by commission they are motivated to help the buyer and seller to complete transactions in a time frame that is realistic without setting up expectations that are in the realm of fantasy.

Because the real estate agent is an employee of the seller and the buyer representing each individually they are responsible for doing what their client wants. There are many real estate agents all working for their clients and finding a reputable one can be a challenge. While some agents are pushy and want immediate reactions from their clients others are laid back and allow the buyer or seller to control the direction that the sale is going to be in the hands of the individual.

When working with an agent remember that they are people too and have lives of their own with their own unique set of problems and concerns that they must check at the door when they are working with a client. Although a real estate agent may come across as being a professional they sometimes forget to call back or follow up on a question that a client may have and even be caught up in working with more than one client that they forget to submit an offer on a house. While these practices may not be common they can and do happen so it is the responsibility of the buyer or the seller to evaluate their real estate agent and seek out another more responsible individual if their agent is not performing as expected by their clients.

While rare instances exist for distress and lack of focus that is related to personal issues outside of work, being consistently absent minded and following through on two out of three assignments or queries is not the mark of a good agent and action should be taken to correct the irresponsible behavior of the real estate agent that is dropping the ball.

In finding a real estate agent that is a solid professional and will compete the tasks set them by their agent the buyer or seller should ask about their work ethic and make certain that their agent will follow through by returning phone calls and completing assignments that are asked of them by their clients.
